Mock interview for foundation studies in art and design.

I found out on Tuesday that my interview was today so its safe to say I was a bit worried having not prepared that much. I spent all of yesterday mounting work and running what I was going to say through my head. Despite my worrying I went really quite well. Yaay.
We just talked about what I want to do after college, told them about my plans to go around Europe, broaden my artistic capabilities from  a fresh perspective and take in some of the modern artistic culture before heading off to uni. We also talked about what artists influence me and how I stay updated with modern artists as well as how I want to break into fine art.
I shant go on about our conversation but I was really good to talk about it and I feel it went very very well and I worried for no reason!

Laurie Frick: A fine line between art and neuroscience.

Here Frick has used mundane household items and arranged them to reflect the patterns seen in EEG scans. This reflects how the things we do that have become a part of our very existence that we hon think about are reflected into the physical world outside of our our minds.

Heres a link to some of her works on this subject http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2011/03/wood-paper-and-cardboard-collage-by-laurie-frick/.

New project, 'Boundaries'.

Hello again, here we are at the start of a new brief called 'Boundaries'.
I've already developed the ideas which I'll take on further which- in short- is going to be themed along the neuroscience behind mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety as well as imagery that sufferers may experience (or at least I have) intertwined with the chemistry.

Depression is not a flaw in character, its a flaw in chemistry. Albeit, behavior stemmed from such chemistry is triggered by traumatic event and such so drugs aren't the ultimate solution, therapy and counselling and training one's self to be able to make themselves able to feel the emotions they are allowed to feel as a human. Remember depression isn't sadness, its being hollow and feeling nothing at all however. Being sad isn't a bad thing, its part of the human experience. Depression isn't a bad thing either, from experience its a humiliating experience but everyone will experience it once, twice or may be unlucky to suffer for the majority of their life.

Here are a few studies of the imagery I'd like to incorporate into the 2d aspects of my piece detailing the sort of things I would see in my nightmares/ dreams/ night terrors.

And this is the start of my 3d study of a giant neuron. Copper wire, some cheap, spongy crap and mod-roc.
